Charisma challenge # 17 and Tutorial for Origami box

Good morning everyone this is my DT sample for this weeks Charisma challenge which was set by our lovely Leanne and the theme is "Thank You". This is quite a long post as I've added the tutorial for the box, so apologies if you fall asleep before the end..
I have been asked how to make this little Origami box, so here it is. I've never done a tutorial before so I hope you can understand my explanation. If you have any problems with it please let me know and I will do a Picture one showing step by step instructions. Or you can find it here which is where I found it originally.

Starting with a 12" square piece of card or if you prefer use paper, I used Basil basic card, follow the folding instructions here. I did try to upload the file but Blogger won't let me but I'll keep trying. You now have the basic box, if you would like to make a lid then read on.
Cut a piece card 30cm x 13cm, now measure 12cm in from the end on the longest side of the card and score a line across , do the same at the other end and make a fold on these two lines and you should have a piece of card 30cm long with a 6cm folded area across the middle, this is the depth of your box .It should look like the cover of a book.

If you want to cover the lid and bottom with designer paper then do it NOW it's much easier to do before you fix the lid and bottom on to the box. Now wrap the piece of card round your box and stick the bottom and back with double sided tape.

Your box is now ready to be decorated and filled with yummy treats or use it without the lid to store all your little bits and bobs on your desk. Remember as long as you start with a square you can make it any size at all, try little ones made with 8inx8in or 6inx6in paper they're really cute. A really handy little box......

Wedding Day...

Hello again I forgot about this one. An order for a girl in work. I used my nesties for this one again and mounted some printed Vellum on top before adding the Decoupage. I used a pearlised card and added silver card and embossed pearl card on to that. flowers and ribbon from my stash. I think we are getting into Wedding season now, I've had a few orders for wedding cards this week, I've also got one for myself to make this week for my Nephew who is getting married a week on Saturday. Got my outfit at last after much searching and I even got the colours I wanted, Black and cream. Looking forward to it. Must dash got a 60th Male card to make for tomorrow. I'll post it later if I get time.

WOJ challenge and Papertake....

Hello again this card is for my friend Particia in work for her Mum for Mothers Day. Yes I know it's passed over here but her Mum lives is Canada and they celebrate Mothers Day in May. I didn't know that myself till today. I hope she likes it ...By the way the little dog is called Bam Bam, her Mum's constant companion , just thought she'd like little Bam Bam in there too.

I'd just like to thank everyone for all your lovely comments in my blog I really do appreciate you taking the time to visit , it's really uplifting to read them all, especially when you hit a blank somedays....

I am entering this card for WOJ challenge as I used their fab sketch and also Papertake challenge which is is Stripes and Spots. The stripes are there I promise you but you have to zoom in to see them properly. They are on the yellow & white paper, very faint....

Just Magnolia......

Hello everyone, another late night for me, this is getting to be a habit.....I did this card tonight for the Just Magnolia challenge which is a colour theme of Green and Pink. I coloured this little Tilda today while I was sitting in the garden. It was a really hot sunny day today and so I thought I'd make the most of it. I coloured her with my usual Copics and put some Stickles on her wings and cupcake.. The papers are all from HOTP, and the flowers are Prima and some others from my stash. Tilda of course is mounted on oval nesties and the sentiment is from the spring stamps set which was free a while ago with Cardmaking & papercraft Mag. Swirls and green leaves were cut on my Robo, and the ribbon is from craftyribbons.com. Happy crafting and thanks for popping in.

DT card for Charisma challenge # 16

Morning everyone hope it's sunny where you are today. This is my card for Charisma this week, Claire has given us a fab sketch to follow so this is my take on it. The paper is Simply elegant by Papermania and the image is Pen Pal from Eliz.Bell. I had to crop it to fit but I think it looks okay. I coloured it with Copics though the colours are not very true in the pic as the light in here is very poor. The sentiment is from a set with flowers and teddies I bought years ago and I just came accross this week. The lace, velvet ribbon and flowers are from my stash.
This week at Charisma we are proud to be sponsored by:

Handy hippo sell absolutly everything! from stamps to inks from peel offs to papers! for all your favourite crafts! They have very kindly donated a 10% off voucher for this week's winner!

I'm off now to get my little grandson for the day, if he goes for a wee sleep in the afternoon I might manage to colour some images. Happy crafting.

A little flower image for a change....

Well I should be in bed as it's now 1am but I just had to finish this card or I wouldn't have slept. You know the way you have it all in your head and you just have to get it done. Well I can pop off to bed now quite happy. Hope you like it I got a wee bit fed up of the usual cute images and decided to do flowers instead and as luck would have it I'm too late for the cute card Thursday challenge this week which was all about flowers, Ah well never mind.... I've had this image for years and never used it so decided it was time to ink it up.The sentiment stamp was from the paper shop and doesn't have a name on it. I used paperania lilac flower paper and embossed white paper for the background. Mounted the stamp on to nesties and added free flowers that came with last months cardmaking and papercraft mag. It's really lilacs and pinks but the camera has made it look more bluish.
Right that's me off to bed now. Back again tomorrow or should I say later today.....with my DT card for this weeks Charisma challenge which is a sketch by the lovely Claire.

Carly's DT challenge

Is to make or alter an envelope. "Too much whiteness out there "she said. I've never made an envelope before although I seem to have found quite a few templates for them among my stash, so I used one tonight and came up with this. I'm not really keen on it, the only thing that I do like is the paper I used, that's about it really. Maybe I'll get better with a bit of practice. Thaks for stopping by.

UR 18

I made this card for my friend in work. I think it's for her Nephew, not sure. Anyway he has a black car hence the decoupage I used, which is from Craft creations. The papers are HOTP and Dovecraft Grayscale, I think...stupid me has lost the front page and I only had it in my hand yesterday...lol. It's probably under a pile of stuff somewhere. I'll find it eventually. Thanks for looking.

Cute wedding....

Another card for a girl in work. I used a cute decoupage by Monica, and layered embossed paper and swirl paper onto mirri card. Added a topper with champagne glasses ( can't remember where I got these I've had them for years) and the sentiment is done the computer, added organza ribbon to finish. It's a lovely day again today hope it's nice where you are.

Have a nice Monday.

350th Birthday

Hi there, I've not been around for a few days as I've had major computer trouble. I had to take off all my files and put them all on cd.s so that my son could clear the computer and re boot for me. It worked fine and now I've got loads of memory to play a round with but I've lost a few progams that I liked using for my card making and editing. So apologies for the poor picture of this card.

Now onto the card and what it's for. As you can see it's for Cumbernauld Old Parish they are celebrating 350 years and a girl in my work asked me if I could do a birthday card for the church. Never done one for a church before so I hope she likes it. I used a die cut decoupage for it and mounted it onto my oval nesties I wanted to keep it light and bright so I used an embossed white paper and added a ribbon and flower to match. I bought the glitter numbers in Tesco. Thanks for popping in. Hopefully once I get all my programs back in order my pics will improve.

New pic uploaded my son found the missing programs, everything back to normal..I hope!

I have used papers by basic grey, sultry. The image is my all time favourite, Claudia the Artist, by Elizabeth Bell. Coloured with Copics as I basked in the sun on my holiday aboard the cruise ship Norweigan Jade last week. Mmmmmm wish I was there now..............Back to reality now, the washing is all done and put away and now I have to find a place for the cases. I go through this every time I go on holiday, they never seem to fit back in the cupboard they came out of....lol...Happy crafting everybody.
